Western Europe route and map

Each time we prepare a blog posting, we have had feedback asking for our route.

Below is the route information for Western Europe.

On this trip, drove our campervan from its place of storage in České Budějovice in the Czech Republic, to Western Europe. The journey took us about 178 days and we drove 16,634 kilometres

We began by driving northward through Prague and up to Decin. After having some minor work done on the van in Decin, we headed south through Germany to Switzerland, through the Alps into Italy, then into France at the Cote d'Azure.

We then followed the coastline into Spain and zig-zagged our way south through Spain and on to Gibraltar for a brief encounter with ‘the rock’. Leaving there, we headed west along the Spanish coastline to the town of Tarifa, where we picked up a ferry to Morocco.

After travelling through Morocco, including the Sahara Desert, we caught the ferry back to southern Spain then headed west into Portugal.

We covered a great deal of Portugal while always moving northwards. Eventually we crossed back into Spain then into France, heading to the Bordeaux region.

From there, we followed the coastline north to Malo where we parked the campervan for a few days while we visited friends on Jersey Island. After retrieving the van, we drove on to the north of France, then east through Paris and on to the Champagne Region.

Leaving France, we drove through southern Germany, including parts of ‘The Romantic Road’, before crossing the border into the Czech Republic and České Budějovice, where we parked our van for a few months until our next trip.

See our blog on the above countries for details of our adventures on this route.
