About Us

Our aim

We are two retired women from New Zealand, busy travelling the world. Our quest is to experience other cultures before they are changed beyond recognition, and see endangered animals and environments before they disappear.

Our story

Our travel story mostly began in 2010, when we had a series of misfortunes. We dealt with these, but the result was that it changed the course of our lives.

We had planned and organised a trip to China the previous year and it was a great success. Now we wanted to do that full time, and decided that travel was going to be our future.

So, by January 2011, we had put a deposit on a German campervan that we found online, and closed up our home and work.

By March 2011, we were flying out of New Zealand, and on our way to pick up our new campervan.

Our campervan that we used from 2011 to 2014 in Europe
We now travel for about 6 months of the year and spend the rest of the year at home in New Zealand.

Our approach

We travel independently, that is....we don't use travel agents or do organised group travel. We plan and organise everything ourselves.

The Acropolis, Greece 2011
Our plans are fairly loose; we plan a rough route first, this gives us an idea of how many days/months that we will need, and a budget, then we look for and book cheap flights.

The Dodge's Palace, Venice 2011
This early route planning stage also helps determine the method of travel, for example, by campervan (which we love) or by local transport.

Angkor Wat, Cambodia 2016
The rest of the planning involves looking at specific sights that we want to see within the route and the timeframe, and gets into the details of where we could stay, how we might get there, and so on.

Our campervan during our travels through Chile, Argentina and Patagonia 2017
The plans are loose enough for us to detour, stay longer or less days in each place, and in general, enjoy it all as we go without missing our return flight.

Antarctica 2017
The planning is half the fun. We really have had a great time since we started serious travel in 2009. We look forward to a lot more as there is still a great deal to see.

Taj Mahal, Agra (India) 2019
The rest of the story can be read in these blogs.
